Flower Basket Shawl

I have been trying to photograph this for a while with no success. So… you’ll have to put up with the “lounging in the grass” type of photo.

Flower Basket Shawl

Here’s the stats:

Pattern: Flower Basket Shawl

Attempts: 8 (yep, you read that right.)

Yarn: Dream in Color Smooshy (1.25 skeins)

Color: Cool Fire

Needle size: US 5

Number of repeats: 13

Changes: just my numerous screw-ups design elements.

If I had it to do all over again:

I would have only done 12 repeats. The thing is plenty big and if I had stopped at twelve I could’ve made it with only one skein of Smooshy.

What I learned:

Putting stitch markers between every lace repeat can get you into big, big trouble.

  1. oooohhhh Purty! Thanks for sharing with the list.. What is the finished measurements? It is on my TO-Do List and I think it just moved up the list quite a few slots…heheheh But I would like to know if I would need to do more repeats as I want/need a HUGE shawl…LOL Thanks!

  2. You shouldn’t tell people how many tries it took. It is really beautiful and you should just smile when people ask about the knitting of it. You know, a Mona Lisa smile.

  3. Your shawl is gorgeous! I’m knitting some socks with that same yarn and I was just sitting here thinking that I really need to make something bigger with it because I love the color so much. Hmmm… I know I’ll have a decent amount left over so I’d only need one more skein. But would I wear a pink shawl? Or any shawl? Or should I care if I wear it or not? :)
