All is not lost. I’m just having to think about this a tad more. I’ve got the hole closed up. I just don’t know what to do with that stitch. I can’t exactly wrap up the scarf and include a little note saying "Please don’t ever remove this crochet hook", now can I?
Although that would be a pretty hilarious solution, probably not a good idea. Can you tack it somehow with the same yarn and weave things in carefully?
I would agree with Jessica.
What you call redneck engineering, we call a Rube Goldberg fix, or jerry-rigging, lol. What I would do, and I’m sure there are more elegant solutions, is take a bit of yarn and slip it through the stitch. Then weave the ends into the surrounding stitches. It may take a bit of finesse so it won’t be visable since you’re working with lace, but I think it’s possible. It’s a beautiful scarf I’m sure she’ll love it!
Agree x3. Just tack that dangling stitch down with a bit of the same yarn and weave in the ends.
Oh I don’t know, that crochet hook is a nice touch. Maybe give her a shawl pin to go with it, and tell her never to unpin the thing??
