Not a Downer…. Pinky Swear

OK, this post will not be a downer.  Promise.   Thanks to all of you for your kind words.

Now…. how about a kid picture?

Dscn0005

This is Anna Grace in her ladybug costume.  I found this at a little consignment shop that is a total goldmine.  High end kids clothes (from Gymboree to Nordstrom brand) at very low end prices.  Can I get an amen?

Anyway, I found the little costume last week and today found a pair of pants and turtleneck to go under it.  Anna Grace loves it and she’s been wearing the thing nightly.

See those boxes behind her?  She also is loving this sale.  That is the stack of orders that have come in since the post office closed today.  AG and I are having a bit of a battle.  She thinks that she should be able to stack and restack and restack these boxes.  Today I issued a moratorium on box stacking.  I know the yarn won’t break but it is the principle of the thing!!!!

In knitterly happenings I’ve finished the gussets for the sock and I’m cruising toward the toe.  After I finish this little baby I am going to snag some sock yarn out of the shop.  I’ve resisted the urge to keep all of the yarn for my very own self.  After I check out a yarn and decide I’d like to carry it I leave the rest of the fibers for the customers.

Well, I can resist no more.  There is a skein of Zen Yarn Garden that I keep walking by and petting.  I’ve been petting it a lot.  It is so squishy and pretty and squishy and lovely and squishy. So, if it is still there in a day or two I’m gonna snag it.

In other knitterly news I did a bit of swatching today using Cascade Arcadia that I snagged out of the shop (I’m getting better at this snaggin’ thing).  I did get gauge but after some thought and evaluation I don’t think that this yarn will work for the pattern I had in mind.  I was going to make another Preschool Prairie Skirt and this yarn doesn’t have enough weight for that pattern.

Other events of the day….

1. Anna Grace had a lot of fun playing in the sandbox that is outside of our door.  That sandbox is actually a volleyball court but I’m not going to be the one to tell her that.

2. Although I have been in denial about this I can deny it no longer…. my daughter has started calling me Shannon.  I have no idea why.

3. Dana left for Washington today.  Anna Grace has asked for him most of the day and I keep saying "he’s in Washington".  She then repeats the word "Washington".  After a few rounds of this AG starts telling me that "Daddy’s at the ice cream shop".  (I don’t know where she gets this from…. we don’t go to ice cream shops with our dairy allergic child….. so where’d that come from???).  Anyway, I’d say no, Daddy is in Washington.

This went on for several hours then I had a light bulb moment.

Wash….ing…..ton  if you’re three and trying to process stuff may sound kinda like  ice…..cream….shop.

Wash….ing….ton
Ice…..cream….shop

Now I get it.  We Skyped with Dana earlier this evening and that seems to have taken the edge off a bit.  On Thursday we’ll head up to my mom’s and once she sees Grandma she won’t give a rip about either one of us.

Such is life.

Toodles!
