Yes… I’m a day late. The KNITMORE sale has been a huge success and yesterday we had a record day. Very cool.
Anyway….
So what’s the latest with the griping, complaining, evil little people (i.e. The Duck Police) delightful people at our former place of residence?
Well….. Hammy and Hampy went over to our former abode to check things out. Now understand that each resident is supposed to keep their area cleaned up, within all of their rules (and there’s hundreds of them) and keep it mowed. They mow a portion and you have to mow a portion. Dana last mowed (you have to mow it with a weedeater because it is so small) about 10 days ago.
Anyway…. we are the only residents that actually follow all of those rules. We’re the only ones that mow our area. We’re the only ones not feeding the feral cats. We’re the only one without clotheslines and all other forms of "contraband". So I was a bit hacked when Hampy called me to let me know there was a note on our door stating that if we didn’t mow our area right this minute that they were going to do it for us. And that they charge $25.00 bucks an hour. And they charge a minimum of $25.00 bucks.
I blew a gasket.
Hampy knew that this was exactly what I’d do. So when he got off the phone Hammy asked him what I had to say. He giggled and said he got exactly the response he was hoping for. (That rascal!).
Incidently, Dana…. although he was sick…. went and mowed our space. And once again…. we had the only area that was mowed in the entire residence. Basically this joint doesn’t meet all the requirements to be a 55 or older type establishment. But I think that’s what they want to be and so they just do anything in their power to get us to leave.
Not a problem. We’re gone. …… and it is so good to be gone.
Back to the yarn…
OK, birthday person…. this is the time when you need to turn around again.
Here’s my progress shot on sock #2
After I took that picture I realized that the way I had it set up made that sock look like a bug. Odd.
I’m also still spinning the LL Roving and I’ve discovered something. I always have a hard time spinning for very long. My back starts to hurt, my hands hurt, my legs hurt, you name it. It makes me feel like a little old lady. I’ve tried various chairs, set ups, tensions, etc and still have the same result.
Meanwhile, since we’ve left all of our furniture up in Washington much of the furniture we are using we borrowed from my mother’s winter place or from the BFF’s. Well, one of those items is this very ugly but exceptionally comfortable recliner that belonged to my stepfather. It is big. It is ugly. But boy is it comfortable.
So I was spinning the other day and sitting in this little chair that I like. But the cable man came and I was in his way. So…. I had to move to the recliner. I almost didn’t try to keep spinning but I gave it a shot. What a discovery. Nothing hurts. Nothing at all. I must be in the perfect height, position, etc for my height and that spinning wheel. I spun up another 2 or 3 ounces in no time (and that amount usually takes me a few days).
I think I’m going to have to rethink my prejudice against the ugliness of recliners. I wonder how I can keep this recliner and have it not be seen. Hmmmmmm…..gotta think about that.
Knit it a slipcover.
(just kidding!) Though they do make slipcovers that aren’t quite as ugly as you’d think.
Glad the sale went so well. I didn’t go to Rhinebeck after all–my mom was feeling icky. Wish I needed more yarn.
