So How Did We End Up At The Pacific Ocean?

Well, that was kinda spur of the moment.  Dana hadn’t seen Ft. Stevens like we had and I wanted to drive a little bit of the Oregon coast.  But we chose the wrong portion of the 101 to drive on.  Couldn’t see the coast.  We drove from Portland over to Seaside and then headed up to Astoria.  And, of course, we had to drive the Astoria bridge a few times.

Here’s photos from our time at Fort Stevens.

We checked out the old shipwreck:

There was some kite flying….

I bought this for AG for Easter.  Dana got it up and flying and AG was interested in it for about  5 seconds. Then I got interested in it and took over.  I kept letting it get higher and higher.  Then it crashed.    But I didn’t break it.  I got it airborned again all by my lonesome and was pretty proud of myself (I’m easily impressed).

My kite flying persona….

I decided to let the child play with her kite.  Afterall, technically it is hers. Then she let go of it sending me running like a crazy woman down the beach.  I let her play with it again and this time she let go of it on purpose because she thought mom looked so funny running like an idiot after a kite.  I almost didn’t catch it the second time.  I’m running down the beach as fast as I can, laughing so hard my side hurts and hearing my daughter laugh hysterically over seeing me looking like a fool.

Maybe I’ll buy my own kite and keep it to myself!  (I was enjoying my kite flying time.)

While I was flying the kite…. AG played in the water…

Proving she is no longer afraid of the waves, AG got soaking wet and had a great time.

She tried to get her dad to go in the water but he was a bit too smart for that.

After this we packed up the kite and got in the car.  And then we came home.

Knitting?

By the time we got home I had the front, the back and part of the first ruffle completed for Monica.  Pictures tomorrow.

  1. When my boys were 3 and 5, I bought them kites. We took them to the shores of Lake Erie to fly them.

We got the oldest boy’s airborn. The youngest looked at us as though we were crazy and said, “Oh no, I LIKE my kite, I’m not sending it away!”

He then took his kite back to the van and buckled it into is car seat.

At least Anna Grace let go of hers!
