Saturday Sky:
Saturday was a gloomy day in these parts. I guess since we’ve had several days of sunshine that, in theory, I shouldn’t complain. In theory.
The mountain should be visible in that photo but he disappeared.
Where are the ‘Rents?
Had a bit of excitement yesterday. My inlaws live in Deland, Florida which you may have seen on the national news because of this. Thankfully they were not affected.
I’ve Fallen and I Can’t Get Up:
Several years ago Dana designed and built a dining room table and 8 chairs for me.
This is one of the chairs.
I love my dining room table and chairs. However, in 1999 it was discovered that there was a little design flaw and that he needed to had some additional support where the seat of the chair met the back of the chair. He never got around to it.
I was sitting down for dinner last night when Dana suddenly got inspired to address the design flaw.
Yep, I was sitting in that chair when it gave way and crumbled into all sorts of pieces. We were fortunate. I was sitting in front of the china cabinet which holds the antique china/glassware. The cabinet is scratched, my back is scratched up and Dana’s pride is a wee bit wounded. He says he is now sufficiently inspired to address the design flaw.
Tamiflu Rocks!:
Anna Grace is feeling great after just 2 doses of Tamiflu. A little too great to be honest. I feel great as well. After just two doses all my symptoms completely resolved. I am finishing up my doses and being very thankful that I got off as easy as I did. Anna Grace still has the sinus symptoms but the fevers are gone, the droopiness is gone and she has entirely too much energy. She’ll be finishing up her doses as well and we will be free of the Avian Flu til next year.
Knitting A Long:
I started the Forest Path Stole.
Sorry about the bad photo but you’ll notice from my Saturday Sky picture that good lighting can not be found today. What you see in this photo is attempt #3.
Attempt #1 was going well, despite the seed stitch, when Anna Grace looped her foot into the needle thus pulling the circular completely out of all the stitches. She did this when she decided to come climb on me while I was knitting. I was holding the knitting off to the side to protect it but she got it anyway.
Attempt #2 never went well. It was a disaster from moment one.
Then I made an executive decision. Garter stitch.
Attempt #3 didn’t start out smoothly because I was having trouble with the yarn, casting on, etc. But after a row or two things started to cruise along smoothly.
So, to review, Forest Path Stole being done in garter stitch, seed stitch is now banned from this household.
Thank god you didn’t crack your head open and/or break every dish in the cabinet!
Good for you, bossing your knitting around! If seed stitch doesn’t work, use what does.
I confess I’m feeling somewhat iffy about my beginnings as well! I’m not sure the silk is working, it’s competing with the lace a lot!
I’m pushing on for a bit before I decide.
Glad you and AG are feeling better!
If garter stitch works for you, keep it going! One good thing is that garter stitch would definitely go faster than seed stitch … bring you past the border and start the entrelac fun.
Well, it only took hi 8 years to getting around to fixing the design flaw that he knew about. At least you weren’t hurt and nor was the china.
