Question…. We name our storms up here????

I’ve recently been informed that Washington Weather Wonks name their storm cycles.  i.e. Storm 2006.  Why?????    If they really want named weather phenomena may I suggest they relocate to the Hurricane Sunshine State.

Answered…. the "I forgot to add in Telemark’s shaping" problem

No problem.  Pattern has no shaping.  I decided that I had messed up when I looked at the picture on the model. That sweater definitely has some shaping added in.  The written instructions, however, basically have you knitting a big square with steeks.  Considering how much shaping to add in and where.  Big and boxy = tent.  Not usually a good thing.

Question… how does live journal work????

I’ve got lots of hits from folks on live journal accounts all of a sudden.  It says its off of their friends list.  But I’m not listed or linked nor are there any webrings on the sites that I also participate in.  I’m confused.  Don’t care, but I’m confused.  Welcome live journal people.  If you’ve got that live journal system figured out then you are apparently WAAAAAAY smarter than me.

Question… is live journal like another version of bloglines????

Is it just a blog reader?  Why do I care?  I don’t.  You know me.  My curiosity is up and now I can walk away until I understand every little tidbit.  I don’t get it. Maybe its because I’m too old to get it.  Maybe once you hit 30 any and all brain cells that might let you understand live journal just atrophy????  I know.  I need to get a life.

Question…. am I retired for ever????

I think my nurse practitioner days have come to an end at least for the next few years.  And, once you’re out of circulation for that long, well…. you may be done for good.  So I’m not announcing my permanent retirement but I’m contemplating it.  The reality is that I need some sort of career change.  Anna Grace will soon need additional speech therapy that won’t be covered by early intervention and/or the school districts.  Our insurance pays for some but not all.  We never lived on my salary, it always went toward extras.  This would be one of those extras.    But, the hours of a nurse practitioner do not jive with getting someone back and forth to therapy, doing all the therapy exercises at home, etc etc.  To cover the extra medical expenses and such I see a career change in my future.

Well, I suppose that is all the pondering of my belly button that I’m going to do today.   Tomorrow AG has nursery school and I’m heading over to Kent.  There is a teacher’s supply store (or whatever you call that kind of thing) and I’m looking for a preschool curriculm for AG.  She has some skills that were just left behind because we were so focused on just getting her to talk.  (i.e. she knows what a star is but doesn’t know that stars are in the sky.  Yes… preschoolers are expected to know such things.  I know… I’m shocked too.  We’ll work on it, she’ll get it and all will be just fine.)  So the speech therapist and I had a chat about the kinds of things I need to work on.  I think getting a little curriculm book might help me to go in an organized progression.  We shall see.

  1. Hit the library, there is an entire section of school/learning related stuff to check out. You should be able to find all sorts of preschool activity books, a series called “What Your ___grader Needs to Know” (or something very close) and maybe a toddler/preschool storytime.

I’ll try to gather up some links for you too…I’ve got tons in my homeschooling folder.

  2. Read about you driving to Kent for a teacher supply store. There’s one in Tacoma by the Goodwill on 38th, past the old fabric store. It’s called School Days. Good Luck.
