Finished Object(s)

So when you’re knitting socks is it a finished object or finished objects????

I finished the STR socks.  I knitted them via 2 socks on 2 circs and just did a 3 x 3 ribbing.  I used my sock wizard program for the first time to get the number of stitches to use, etc.  These socks fit better than any I’ve ever knitted.  I did a heel flap instead of a short row heel.  My short row heels have just been too holey.  I obviously don’t know what I’m doing yet when it comes to short rows.

Now I realize this photo looks like its been taken from a funky angle, why do the feet look so out of proportion, etc.?  I’ll tell ya why.  I have freakishly long feet.  Long and skinny.  Size 10.5, thank you very much!  So, no, this isn’t an optical illusion, they really look like that.   Didn’t your mother ever tell you to be nice???!!!

Moving on…..

Last night I cast on a new project.  Readers who have been here since the beginning (i.e. Spring 2005) may remember my many attempts at knitting Branching Out.   There was frogging and tinking and frogging again.  There may have been the shredding of the pattern in a bit of a hissy fit outburst.  Maybe. Well, I am making another attempt.  Previously I didn’t know how to read charts.  Now I do so this thing is going a bit smoother than last time.    I figured since I actually completed the Leaf Lace Shawl that I might have enough skilz to do the Branching Out job.

I’m still using the Elisebeth Lavold Silky Wool that I tried to use last time.  I’d tell ya the color but the yarn band is long gone.  I’m thinking of making this a Christmas present for my grandfather’s …. well… you know (if you can’t say something nice…..).  Time will tell.

I’ve finished three or four repeats and things are going pretty well.  I’ve only had the opportunity to be creative once or twice but that’s it.  I wanted to show you what it looked like lace-wise.  After a bit of redneck engineering…..

Our thanks to the window shade.  Without his help, such views would not be possible.

Well, must go.  I hear the beckonging of the Tivo.

  1. The socks are gorgeous! You will love wearing them – the STR feels so good on your feet. And good going on the lace – we know you can do it. Just keep a cool head and watch out for any wild Boston terriers that come yappin’ at ya!

  2. I’m knitting some STR in that very colorway, Farmhouse! I love this yarn, don’t you? I went with a plain jane sock too because of the lovely varigations. The colors are so rich! It’s nice to see them finished..LOL Great job!
