Today we headed over the mountains to explore the Yakima Valley. Yakima is the "wine country" area of Washington. It is also known for apples and cherries and produce and…. all things wonderful.

Saturday Sky Over Teapot Dome
This is one of the oldest gas stations in the U.S. It was built in the 1920’s. It is shaped as a teapot because it was intended to be a political statement about the Teapot Dome Scandal of Warren Harding’s presidency. Sadly it is apparently out of business. It is a national historic site and is located in Zillah, Washington just off I-82.

And Two Great Pictures of AG
Here she is wondering through one of the orchards we visited
At that same orchard/farm, we were able to pick out 40 apples that would be put into an antique apple press in order to make our own cider. Here’s AG helping us pick out apples. I held her up and she tossed all the apples in herself.
Knitting… I am knitting the cuff portion of Eris sleeve #1. Then I’ll be starting #2. I took Eris with me because all of that stockinette would make for good "no lookie" knitting. I didn’t figure I could be looking down at my knitting on all those twisty turny roads. I do have a tendency to get car sick, ya know. No need to tempt fate.
