Symbol Glossary

Need some help.

I have been working on this hat from One Skein.  Messing it up each time.  I checked for errata and darn it all… it turns out that there isn’t any errata for this pattern other than the errata in my counting.  This was confirmed when after two more attempts I realized that when the thing goes haywire it isn’t always on the same row.

Well, the pattern is written out, not charted.  I remember the days when I used to avoid a pattern if it was charted.  Times change.  I can’t stand knitting something with row by row instructions instead of a chart.  I was going to write my own but I can’ t find a little online glossary of chart symbols.  I ‘ve always just followed the glossary that whatever designer had put in her pattern.

I ran into this problem a few weeks back when I was trying to chart out a Barbara Walker design.  There was a stitch description in there and I could not find a chart symbol for it.  I made up my own but I figure if I was ever going to write up a pattern such redneck engineering would not be appreciated.

So does anyone know of a complete symbol glossary?  Maybe I’m using the wrong search words but I’m coming up a bit empty.  I’ve found a few but they just had four or five symbols in them.  Any thoughts for  an online resource or one that is published?  The books I have around here cover the basic symbols but nothing cabled and I really need to know the symbol for k2tog and p2tog.  None of the resources I’ve checked had those listed… and I’d think they’d be pretty common.

Such is life.  I’m off to search more.
