Hello all. We returned safely from our vacation. We had a great time traveling along the Cascade Loop, the Mount Baker Scenic Byway and a brief stint on the Mountain Loop Scenic Highway. This last part didn’t work out so well since we had to travel for an extended period of time on a gravel road only to discover that the road was closed. (!) Dana also felt compelled to repeatedly mention that a "highway" should not be made of gravel.
Anyway…. moving on.
I was too lazy to get myself outside a take a picture of today’s sky. But… I have a picture of last week’s Saturday Sky. May I present to you….
Saturday Sky Over Leavenworth, Washington:
Leavenworth is a little town that was brought back from the brink of extinction in the 1960’s by transforming itself into a Bavarian village. It is very similar to Helen, Georgia in style and feel. We enjoyed our time there. We stayed in the greatest place called The Fox Farm. Here’s some photos…
The owners, who live nearby, are great and they have several chickens, goats, ducks, etc. While visiting the animals Anna Grace discovered that the owners were not kidding when they said one of their chickens is very protective of the ducks. This tiny little black chicken kept following us and getting between us and the ducks. It became apparent that the chicken was serious and getting ready to lose his patience. I started removing AG from the scene but she bolted from me and ran back toward the ducks. Mr. Chicken decided it was time to teach her a lesson so he jumped up and started beating her with his wings. He didn’t hurt her and it was fairly obvious he didn’t intend to hurt her. He did, however, scare the daylights out of her and got his message across. She no longer gave me any trouble about leaving the ducks behind.
We stayed here for three nights and visited many of the area’s waterfalls. One of the falls we hiked to was White River Falls which could only be seen from above. It is a sudden drop of about 50 feet or so.
I’ll post more photos throughout the week from our vacation and also pics of the yarn that was obtained while visiting some of the area yarn shops. Woo Hoo.
Tomorrow I’m meeting up with Lorette and Dorothy. We’re going to do a bit of a yarn crawl and then head over to listen to Stephanie . Can’t wait.
