Here is the response that I got from "Jen". Yep…. "Jen" contacted me.
Hi Kris,
We are providing you with the most recent information we have about
the problem with some users not receiving emails from the system. When
we know how the issue was resolved, we add provide more detailed
information to your ticket.
All tickets submitted to the system are reviewed by the entire team,
including senior admins. With problems that affect a large number of
users, like the email problems, we do discuss the issue in detail as a
team before responding to tickets.
If you change the email address associated with your account, you
should begin to receive comment notification emails again. Most of the
users reporting the problem have earthlink.net email addresses. All of
the free email services, like gmail.com and yahoo.com, are not
experiencing this issue. Please do not think that issue is less of a
priority because it is not affecting all users. It is still on the top
of our list for resolution as quickly as possible.
The problem you encountered with Comments not be posted today is a
different issue. We experienced an unexplained database problem early
this morning causing the application to be unavailable for most of the
day. The system has since been restored.
Any comments submitted to your weblog between 12:30AM – until about 8 PM tonight would not be posted successfully.
For more information about the downtime, the TypePad news blog has been updated:

Please let us know if you have any other questions or problems.
Thanks,
Jen
So, I’m a bit stunned that she’s trying to get me to leave earthlink. Especially since it was my understanding that earthlink and typepad just hooked up for something to do with earthlink’s blog. Then I got thinking. (Ut Oh!) I couldn’t figure out a way to get through earthlink’s maze and actually email customer service. So… I went to their blog.
I clicked on the comments section, started writing, pasted in Jen’s letter to me and hit post. I asked them to please try to work out something with Typepad so I can stay an earthlink customer. We’ll see. If nothing else, I think Jen’s comments to me might get somebody’s attention over at earthlink, if just for a moment.
I’m just the little guy but this is the only way I could see to try to get somebody, ANYBODY, to actually pay attention for 20 seconds. Here’s their blog. Hopefully I didn’t make anybody mad over there. If "Jen" gets mad, well, I don’t really care if "Jen" gets mad. I’m not entirely sure that "Jen" exists.
ummm….yeah, I had gmail and I had a bit of the problem. and yesterday I couldn’t comment at all on anyone’s blog. ugh.
Hi Kris,
Thanks for bringing this to my attention. I’m going to look into this on our side and poke around on their side and try to find out what’s going on and how we can fix it quickly.
Heh, and nobody’s mad over here, on the contrary I’m glad you got in touch. I don’t have the resources to serve as customer service or tech. support myself, but in cases like this I can certainly help find a solution.
I generally prefer that you use e-mail rather than comments if you’re writing about something off-topic (just to keep the conversations focused), but I imagine if you were new to the blog you probably figured it wouldn’t get attention unless it was in a comment. I’ll leave your comment where it is until we figure out what’s going on, and then maybe i’ll move it into a blog entry of its own.
