I just realized that I never showed you a picture of the Kitty Pi cat bed once if finished blocking. Here it is.
This was made with 2 1/2 skeins of Kureyon using size 11 needles and the free pattern from Wendy’s blog. I knitted this thing over the weekend that we went to the tulip festival. Fun but quick.
Next up: The Nancy Bush socks that aren’t.
You may remember a few weeks back that I started knitting the Friday Harbor pattern from Nancy Bush’s Knitting on the Road. About mid-way through I realized I was using the wrong chart and had just doen the entire cuff wrong. And I refused to undo it. I referred to the socks as the Not-Quite-Friday-Harbor-Socks. But Natalie had the perfect idea…. She suggested I call them Saturday Harbor Socks.
So here they are…. Saturday Harbor Socks that are not quite by Nancy Bush
Still on the needles, almost done.
Finished product.
These are knit with size 2 circs and using Artyarns Ultramerino 4. I tried one other thing with these socks: short row heels. I had moderate success. The failure that I did have was because I chose not to pick up the wraps. The instructions I was using said I could pick them up or not pick them up. Next time… I’ll pick up the wraps. Why? Holes. Lots of little holes. Live and learn.
Here’s the side view…. with the little holes. In other words, these socks are just a huge mess of bizarreness.
Maybe I should call them Saturday Harbor Test Socks or Saturday Harbor Lab Experiment Socks or Saturday Harbor Frankenstein Socks or……
The holes “work” though. They look like they’re supposed to be there, with the rest of the lace pattern.
I love the cat bed. It looks so cozy, and I bet the cats only get out of it to eat. I don’t blame them!
You know the rules – there are no mistakes in knitting, only “design elements”. I think your Saturday Harbor socks are lovely and I like the design element of the lacey eyelets running up the heel. See, all better! And I love A.G.’s room! The Itsy Bitsy Spider is the song that I would sing to Izzy (my granddaughter) when she was here and would get fussy. Last week I sang it to her over the phone and her mom said she laughed and started dancing.
Saturday Harbor. That’s funny!
I like the holes; they match the lace! I’ve only done short row heels once. I picked up the wraps and they STILL looked wonky. I will probably try it again, if only because of that obsessive-compulsive thing that I have about getting things perfect.
