In spite of tulip festivals, illnesses, trips to the doctor, etc., there has been some fiber interaction going on around here.
First up… an almost finished object.
On Friday I began working on a cat bed using Wendy’s pattern for a Kitty Pi or felted kitty bed. I made this for my mother’s cat Buds (a.k.a. buddsie….a.k.a. Rosebud. OK…here’s the deal. The cat wonders into their yard, they feed cat. Cat actually belongs to man down the road. Cat decides he likes my mother better. They call "him" Buds or Buddy "because he’s a good friend". Then Mom decides to officially adopt him. She takes him to the vet, discovers he’s a she and suddenly we need a more girly name. So Buds…which is what the cat is ALWAYS called… had to get an official name. Officially, SHE’s Rosebud and Buds is for short. Welcome to the dysfunction that I call FAMILY.)
Moving on…..
As I was saying, I made the kitty bed for her. I bought enough yarn to make one for her and one for our cats. I’ll get around to our cats’ bed at some other time.
Here’s the finished kitty pi prior to being felted. I started it on Friday and finished the knitting portion on Sunday.
And here it is after two rounds in the washing machine. I’m drying it on a cake carrier (you know… the old tupperware cake things) with two towels over it. Each towel is doubled over.

Next in line…. Friday Harbor Socks by Nancy Bush
I’ve done 1.5 repeats of the cuff chart and I love this pattern. It takes a little bit of attention but not too much. As you can see I’m doing these via the 2 socks on 2 circs and these are my official Cirque du Socks project. I’m using Artyarns Ultramerino 4. This yarn is great, little to no splitting, super soft and nice crisp stitches. What more could a girl want?
Finally, some spinning….
I have been working on some of the brown corriedale wool that I bought from Elizabeth.
I’m thinking I’m going to ply it with some of the white corriedale. I just haven’t decided if I’m going to use 2 brown singles to one white single or if I’ll do it the other way around (2 white singles to one brown single). Decisions, decisions.
That’s about all that is going on around here…. fiber wise that is.
I’m headin’ off to bed. Need more rest.
Glad to hear you’re still in the land of the living in between nursing duties, etc. Is that a Lendrum wheel? How do you like it? I went to a “spin-in” at our local high school several weeks ago and I’m definitely interested. Weaving Works was there with several wheels. It may have to wait a couple of years until I’m through with school, but in the meantime, I’m dreaming.
Beautiful socks!
