Happy Easter

To us, Easter is a very important day.  It is one of the biggest events of our faith.  In addition, I just love Easter.  The flowers, the colors, the time with friends and family, I love it.  This Easter was a bit different however.

First, Anna Grace is sick.  Yep, you read that right,  Folks in this house are sick again.  Anna Grace started getting sick Friday night but wasn’t letting it slow her down.  The problem is that she can’t go to Sunday School sick so some adult has to stay home with her.  That was going to be Dana since I did it last time.  Then I got sick.  Dana had a cold last week and it appears that he decided to share with with AG and me.  I knew yesterday that I was possibly on the hit list but when I awoke this morning it was official.  The only person  healthy enough to go to church today was Dana.

This had me a bit bummed.  I don’t think an Easter has passed without me being in church in maybe 25 years.  I’m bummed that I couldn’t go but it doesn’t change the significance of the day.

In addition to these unplanned changes, I’m also a bit homesick today.  We always spent the day before Easter with Dana’s folks and then hung out at Hammy and Hampy’s with our friends on Easter Sunday.  It was the first "holiday" that we had to "make a new tradition".  Considering that this year’s tradition appears to be "Lets All Be Sick for Easter", I think we need to make a new plan for next year.

We did take Anna Grace outside and try to teach her the finer points of an Easter Egg hunt.  She wasn’t terribly interested but she did have fun putting all her eggs on her swing and then testing out the slide.  You’ll notice from the pictures that we did get one huge, unexpected Easter blessing: Sunshine.

  1. Happy Easter, Kris–I hope you’re all feeling better by now. I’m still a little wobbly but better. Maybe today, a grits and sticks photo! (Grits is the #1 best food for eating on a stomach virus, you know.)

Your tulip photos were amazing. AG is so cute!

  2. Oh man! I am so sorry you guys are sick again. Maybe eventually you’ll get acclimated to our Pacific Northwest bugs. I was a little suprised by the sunshine too, although it was COLD up here in the north. AG looks like she’s having a great time. Happy Easter.
