A few weeks ago I finally finished Don’t Get Too Comfortable by David Rakoff . I had an awful time trying to finish this book and then I couldn’t bring myself to post about it. Yep, that bad.
I have enjoyed listening to David Rakoff on NPR’s This American Life and he cracks me up when I see him in interviews. But, all of that does not translate well to book form. Much of the book is just boring and there are many areas where it appears that Rakoff is really struggling to find something to complain about. In other words, much of it feels forced.
I forced myself to finish the book. Some essays were actually ok but they were rare. Overall, I wouldn’t recommend spending money on the book and I’d carefully consider whether it is worth spending time on the book as well.
I have moved on to another book. I’m already half done and I’m enjoying this immensely.
Toodles!
