So here’s where the March projects are as of lunchtime today.
Jaywalker socks:
Working on the toe decreases, in the home stretch. 90% done.
The Alpaca Twin Rib Scarf:
I looked for a simple ribbing pattern that wasn’t straight ribbing. Anyway, I know its a bit strange using a fingering weight yarn for something like this. If, however, you’ve been around here very long you’d know better than to expect me to do something normal. This is using the alpaca yarn I got in the San Juan Islands.
Alpaca yarn for Krystal Acres Alpacas, size 5 needle. Measures about 7 or so inches in length. 10% completed.
The Cut Out Cardi
All knitting is complete except sleeves. Here they are. Sleeves are 5% complete, entire cardi is about 75% complete. I’m knitting the sleeved double dutch. Currently they are on a size 3 needles and are getting ready to move up to a size 5.
Leo:
I have no pictures. Currenty the shoulders are seamed, the arms are seamed in. I need to stitch up the side seams, stitch the sleeves together and fix the freakishly long sleeves. Then I can pick up the neck stitches and finish the whole thing up. I’m going to try to atleast do the side seams today. Maybe I’ll have Dana model the thing this afternoon. Although with those sleeves he may end up looking like Batman.
Spinning:
I did some spinning last night at the Antique Sandwhich Shop. Theres a knitting/spinning group that meets there once a month. First of all, this little cafe is way cool, yummy food, lots of character. While there Betsy let me spin on her wheel for a bit. She has an Ashford Traditional. I liked spinning on it but I think I’ve decided that the Traditional is too short for me. The bobbin is much lower than it is on the Traveler and after a while I had crick (sp?) in my neck. I’m too tall for the Traditional. Other than that one little glitch I liked it just fine!
I also did some spinning this morning. I’m getting the hang of things. I’m not making as many freakazoid fibery wannabe thingies as I was in the beginning. Everything is overspun but our instructor advised us to expect such things. Still likin’ this Ashford Traditional. In truth there’s only one thing I don’t like. I don’t like the looks of it, that’s it. I’m not an early-american-style-furniture kind of girl. I’m a mission-style-clean-lines-Gustav-Stickley kind of girl. Therefore, I want to try a lendrum. If I don’t like it though, I’ll do just fine with a Traveler.
Well, Toodles. I hear the toddler destroying somethng. Must go.
I *love* my Lendrum! Probably good for a taller person too. (I’m only five six, so can’t say for sure.)
