1. A few days ago I was diggin’ around on the Elann site and spied some of their house brand, The Peruvian Collection. I checked around on some blogs, folks seemed to like it and think it was fairly soft. So, I placed an order. Don’t freak on the color, I happen to like wearing autumn colors, even oranges. The yarn arrived yesterday. I’m probably going to use it to knit this (cardigan, not pullover). I enjoyed knitting Rogue so much that I think this should be a blast although I’m still dreading trying to figure out zipper installations. Anyway…. here’s the yarn. It’s Peruvian Collection Sierra Aran in the color Russet.
2. A few months back I was reading somebody’s site (and I can’t for the life of my remember who it was) and they discussed a book that they used a lot for sweater design. I checked around for the book and discovered it was out of print. You could buy it,if you’d like, off of Amazon (if you were willing to pay an arm and a leg). Well, Dana bought the book anyway and surprised me with it for my birthday. Its The Knitter’s Guide to Sweater Design by Carmen Michelson and Mary Ann Davis.
3. I learned a new vocabulary word that could’ve fit on my list from the other day. The word is Rez. Rez (n): Gangsta speak for Reservation as in Indian Reservation. Apparently there are gangs on reservations, whodda thunk it??!! Anyway, they have spray paint things that say Rez Warfare, and other such things.
4. Spinning: I’ve about decided that spinning may need to wait until another phase of my life. I’m having trouble finishing knitting projects. This makes me a bit sad but I’m afraid if I get into spinning I’ll start stressing over unfinished projects. Maybe I’ll feel differently after we get a bit more settled.
5. AG had her first OT session today. To get started they re-evaluated her using the Peabody and she did well. She showed all the skills that I knew she had and she showed the speech therapist as well (she was in observing). Overall, I think I’m getting used to things around here and I do think that the new speech therapist will benefit AG. Plus, all of AG’s OT (occupational therapy) will be done as a joint session with speech. Initially I wasn’t sure about this but now I think its a good idea.
6. The couch. Dana called Dania again this week and the guy told him he still can’t place the order. He suggested Dana call him back in a month. A month! MONTH! Off to find another couch.
Well, that’s all from this front. We leave this afternoon for Friday Harbor. I’m so excited I can’t hardly stand it. I’ll be taking the jaywalker socks and the cardigan sleeves with me for the car ride. We’ll see if I actually get anything done.
Toodles!
What a small worldl – I just got my shipment of Peruvian Highland Wool from Elann this week for my Eris. Great minds must think alike. Did you know Pt. Roberts (where Elann is) is not that far from us – up near the Canadian border. Wave as you go by the exit to Whidbey Island and have a great trip!
D’oh! I wasn’t paying attention or I’d’ve pointed you to Honey Lane Farms in Friday Harbor, where I got some yummy alpaca at Stitches and some even-yummier hand cream that I put on mere seconds ago. (mmm.) Next time!
love that Eris pattern!
