I’m not much of a stasher except where sock yarn is involved. That said, I do have a mini stash of yarn, books, bags, needles, blah blah blah. This stuff has been stashed in an end table thing, in a back closet, etc.
In every house we’ve lived in, we’ve never had a coat closet. We’ve always lived in homes from the early 1900’s. Storage was always at a premium and I learned a few things about furniture buying, hiding things, etc. The main rule of thumb: If an item of furniture does not do at least two things it is probably a waste of money. This is why our "coffee table" is a 17th century mariners trunk. Things are stored within it. Bed frames: they’re hollow and store keepsakes, etc that we don’t need to get to often. You get the picture.
One item we bought early in our marriage was an antique armoir. (It was a total steal.) It has been, for all intents and purposes, our coat closet. When we moved here I fretted a bit about what to do with it, is there a place for it, etc. I really love the thing and I didn’t want to get rid of it. I found a place but we couldn’t really determine it’s purpose other than holder-of-all-junk-that-you-don’t-know-what-to-do-with. Well, it is now my official knitting armoir.

For Christmas my SIL got me a gift certificate to Patternworks . I’m not much into some of their yarns, kits etc but I do get a little worked up over their knitting gadgets, organizers, and such. I used the gift certificate to buy a circular needle organizer and dpn organizer. They arrived last week, just in time for the armoir’s new post as the Knitting Armoir.
