Bathtub Book Club

I just finished reading Shoot the Moon by Billie Letts and I have thoroughly enjoyed it.  Is this fine literature?  Nope!  It is a fast moving story (paced in the same style as a Grisham novel without as much anxiety) about a man who, after his parents have passed away learns he was adopted.  In seeking to locate his birth mother he discovers that his mother was in fact murdered and he was "kidnapped" when he was still a small infant and had been presumed dead.  The book then follows his attempts to learn more about his mother, discovering his heritage and trying to answer the questions that surround his disappearance and his mother’s murder.

The book is fast paced and keeps your attention but at times it can be a bit predictable.  For me it was enough suspense to keep me interested but not so many facts and details that I couldn’t keep up at this current ADHD/highly distractable phase of my life.  I think it’s style and pacing could best be described as a great "beach" read… or more accurately…. a great redneck "beach" read.  I really enjoyed it.
