I Think I’m Turning Japanese?

Thank you to everyone who left info on knitalongs.  I think I get it and now I’d like to try one.  I started to just go for it and join Cara’s knitalong called Crossed in Translation .  I was in the process of ordering the pattern, etc from an asian website that she recommended… that was written in English… when I saw something that gave me pause.  The directions are in Japanese.  The charts are too.  I thought charts were charts.  Do different countries have their own symbols and so forth.  If so, lets get them to stop that.

So.. with that discovery I went back to the knitalong site (right after I stopped my ordering process) and looked at the links, etc.  There’s info out there for translating the chart info etc from Japanese.  It is a pretty cardigan… but… call me crazy…. I think my life may be a little full and my Japanese is a bit too rusty for this endeavor.  I officially announce that I will not be joining his knitalong and will just gaze in envy at the FO’s of the participants.

Debi told me of another knitalong that sounds pretty cool so now I’m checkin’ that one out.  This one of Cara’s is just more than I can handle at this crazy and bizarre time of my life.  All I could think of (when I saw that the instructions were Japanese) was that song by the Vapors…

I think I’m turnin’ Japanese
I think I’m turnin’ Japanese
I really think so

(sorry… eighties flashback… I couldn’t help myself)
