My Ishbel shawl was just starting to cruise along when I dropped it while trying to knit and simultaneously drive in the car rider line at school. (I know, I know. Let’s just let that little statement lie there and nobody pick up that ball…alrighty?! Thanks.) Anyway, many stitches were lost and bad words were said and tears were shed and that was that.
I can’t ever pick up dropped stitches on a shawl so, we’re going to have to start over.
Which brings me to another realization. In the whole “knit 10 shawls in 2010” commitment, I’m not doing so well. I’ve completed a whopping three. One, two, not ten, but three. Me completing 10 Shawls in 2010…. looking unlikely it is.
(Yes, I know. Kris made a Yoda joke. Don’t tell anybody. I’ve got a reputation to uphold!)
Tell no one I will.
You are to be commended you are for completing 3 shawls while caring for your family (including an INFANT), serving in your church, jumping on the exercise bandwagon and dealing with numerous contractors! I commend you I do.
Oopsie. I’m not saying nothin’ about the driving and knitting part. I hate picking up dropped shawl stitches. Mostly I just try to get as much of it as possible back on the needles, then tink back row by row until I get to a good row where I know where I am.
Oh, and I haven’t finished even 1 stinking shawl this year.
UGH!!! Dropping stitches on a lacy shawl is just – ugh. I knit in the school line as well, but it’s usually something easy like a sock or a stockinette sweater!
and *only* doing three??? I think growing a baby counts for something!! not to mention volunteering and taking care of a family, etc etc. I’m IMPRESSED you completed three!!
