Friday night Dana left Sea-Tac and headed to Orlando. It was a bit odd but for some reason I had a very uneasy feeling. So uneasy that eventually I had to confess a few weeks ago and ask Dana to leave me a list of how to reach the cat sitter, how to reach his supervisor, where is his apartment located in Kent, etc. I just had a concern that something might happen to Dana. (Overactive imagination). Anyway, Saturday morning I was supposed to get up early and start cooking items for brunch at Hammy and Hampy’s, head to the airport, blah blah blah.
But I over slept.
I dashed out of bed at 7:15 when I was supposed to be at the airport at 7:30. I got dressed, grabbed AG out of bed and raced to the airport. When I get there I don’t see Dana sitting out front so I drive through and loop around again. All of a sudden this security guard walks out in front of me and motions for me to stop. When he walks up to the car he says "You waiting for someone on Alaska Airlines?". And then my blood ran cold. This was my worst fear becoming reality…. his plane went down.
Nope. Plane was just late. As my friend Lori said… wouldn’t it have been a bit better if he started his statement with… Alaska Airlines is running a bit late…. are you waiting for Alaska Airlines?… because you know that every single person is going to have that same awful thought.
Dana soon made it out to the car safe and sound and with me feeling just a little bit silly.
Saturday morning, after getting the traveler back home, we headed over to Hammy and Hampy’s for Christmas brunch and exchanging gifts for the kiddos.
Anna Grace was not terribly interested…. nor has she been interested at all…. in Christmas presents, etc.
Saturday night (Christmas Eve) we went to Dana’s parent’s house up in Deland and had a great dinner and opened presents from that side of the family. Anna Grace had to be pretty much forced into even staying in the room. She found the whole activity rather boring and kept trying to get Dana to take her outside.
Anna Grace and me wrestling over fixing hair. AG was more interested in that little canister of spices than in any of her gifts.
AG and her new dressing doll (has all the zippers, buttons, etc…. a great OT project).
Reading a story with Grandma.
Christmas Day we got up and opened our stockings and tried, unsuccessfully, to get Anna Grace to play with her new tunnel and tent/ball pit thing and then headed off to church. After church we went back over to Hammy and Hampy’s for Christmas dinner and had a nice relaxing afternoon. Then last night we decided to open the rest of our packages.
Anna Grace showing an interest in her new Baby Einstein video (Baby Noah).
Wednesday we will head over to Inglis to spend part of the day with my mother and step-father. At that point our Christmas celebrations for 2005 will officially be completed.
Hope y’all had a wonderful Christmas celebration and got to enjoy time with your family and friends.
When John was traveling for a living, I had those nightmares all the time. We had this little ritual every time he left (he was gone 4-5 nights a week) where I would tell him to tell the pilot when he walked by the cockpit to “fly safe”. Eventually we shortcut it to “you know what to tell the pilot”. I’m sure he was too embarrassed by his nervous wife to actually say it.
You made a real knitting haul for Christmas, by the way. Lucky girl!
