Nutkin Knit – A – Long

We’re starting a knit – a- long using a beautiful, free sock pattern called Nutkin.  Nutkin (Ravelry link) is designed by Beth LaPensee and has a dramatic look to the finished sock while actually being a not-too-complicated pattern.  (While you’re at her site, check out the famous Knitzi, a wonderful tool for keeping your DPN’s and sock project “under control”.)

Here are the details for the knit-a-long:

Cast on no earlier than November 10, 2009.
Finish Date: New Years Day.

Post pictures of your knitting progress or your finished projects here on our group board or you can email them to me at Kris (at) sonnyandshear (dot) com.

If you choose to knit 2 socks at once, that’s totally fine.  However you most enjoy knitting your sock projects is fine with us.

What if you don’t knit but you crochet?  If you are a crocheter, we will accept a pair of crocheted socks (pattern of your choosing) in place of the Nutkin pattern.

Yarn recommendations…

The wonderful thing about Nutkin is that it works well with both solid or varigated yarns.  Both have beautiful and stunning results.

Consider….

Hazel Knits
Zen Yarn Garden (a restock of ZYG is coming this weekend including some amazing new colors)
Smooshy
Unique Sheep Lux Gradience
Pagewood Farms Denali or St. Elias
Ms. Babs Yummy
Yarn Love Juliet or Diana
Three Irish Girls
Pigeon Roof Studios Merino Sock.

PRIZES…..

We’ll use our handy, dandy random number generator to pick 4 winners.  Grand prize will be a $50.00 gift certificate to the shop.  The other three winners will be able to choose a skein of (in stock) sock yarn, any brand, for their prize.

So…download the pattern, cast on and lets have ourselves a knit- a – long.

  1. I have to wait for November 10th?? :-) I quit smoking this week and have been using my knitting to replace the routine of going out for a cigarette so I have one pair of socks that will be finished tonight. If this keeps up, I’ll have at least 2 more pair knit before Nov. 10th. 😀
