Friday night we went over the river (the St. Johns) and through the woods (Seminole State Forest) and headed to the in laws. MIL had the idea for us to all go out to dinner on Friday night as our family Thanksgiving celebration. It was great. We went out to a little family owned Italian place and had way too much yummy yummy food and garlic rolls (I’m sure the pilgrims would’ve had lasagna and garlic rolls if they had just thought about it).
We returned to the in-laws house and MIL had made up a bunch of little dessert treats- pie, cookies, turtle bars… yum. My MIL has a knack for what I’ll call dessert "bars". Scotch-o-roos (I’m positive I’ve spelled that wrong), this cashew/mixed nut thing with a candied glaze, the turtle bars….the woman knows her dessert bars!!!!
Anna Grace had a ball running through their house, up and down the hall. They have a lot of open space and she was going to enjoy every inch of it.
Anna Grace even chased Muffy the cat and I learned that Muffy is not as smart as I thought she was. Muffy is not what one would call friendly. She’s the type of cat that sits across the room, looking completely adorable but if you reach out to pet her she’ll bite your hand off. So, I thought the sound of toddler feet would make her hide under the bed but Anna Grace actually got a hand on her and stroked her fur… then Muffy bolted…. and hissed….and returned to the Muffy we all know and love. Eventually MIL locked Muffy in the extra bedroom. AG was disappointed but Muffy appeared quite relieved.
We got home real late but Anna Grace tolerated it quite well. We got everyone into bed and were supposed to get up early the next day and go out to Kona Cafe at Disney’s Polynesian Resort . This was going to be our anniversary dinner…. except it would be breakfast. I went to bed and dozed off… and then this horrendous noise started and woke me up. It was snoring… lots of it. I poked. I asked someone to roll over. I prodded. I slugged. I listened to him complaining about me waking him up and (since it was now 3:30 a.m.) I kicked him to the couch…. PRONTO!. I had hopes that I would get back to sleep but no luck. I finally dozed off again around 6:15… 30 minutes before the alarm went off. I tried my best to get going. As the Insomnia Poster Child I can often pull it together and function as long as the diet coke intake is adequate but no such luck. So, we cancelled breakfast and stayed home. bleh.
