Chloe
We said goodbye to Chloe last night. She hadn’t been herself for a day or two and then yesterday was looking pretty ill. A trip to the ER vet revealed that she was quite ill and we decided to let her rest.
She was a great friend and my sleeping buddy. We were always battling for bed space and I had taken to sleeping in the center of the bed just to give her a bit more room. She let me think I did this voluntarily but we both knew better.
Chloe was also the closest thing Sonny & Shear had to a shop cat. She spent her afternoons in here with me as I packed orders. She loved to sit on my lap or under the desk by my feet. She just watched every move I made and occasionally tried to steal some ribbon. Lounging in the shop was her favorite afternoon activity.
Chloe also liked to raid my personal yarn stash. She never harmed anything but she’d always steal one skein of yarn in the night. And she never touched anything from the shop…she seemed to know it was off limits. Chloe would steal something from my stash and then leave it right by my desk chair. I always took it as a little message. “See… I could do things to your precious yarn but I’m too well behaved for such things.” Finding that little skein every morning was like Chloe’s version of a love note….or a warning….depending on her mood.
I’ll miss you my beloved friend.
I’m so sorry Kris – it’s always hard to say goodbye. Thinking of you.
Rest well sweet Chloe.
Y’all are in my thoughts Kris.
So sorry about Chloe! We just lost Tigger in July after 13 1/2 years. It’s so hard…you think of themas just a cat…but they really are a member of the family! Had a great time seeing you yesterday!
I am so sorry for your loss… we have MANY furbabies and it always hurts so much when one leaves us. We have 3 right now (2 dogs and one cat), that are getting up in their years, and I have taken to giving them many more scritches and cuddles than the younger ones. I don’t know how much longer I will have them so I want them to be most happy while they are still with us.
I know that Chloe will be on the other side of the rainbow bridge to greet my babies when their time comes!

I’m so sad to hear this. It’s so funny that she knew not to hurt your stash yarn, just leave it for you. You will all be in my thoughts.
What a beautiful kitty – I’m so sorry. I’ve had to say goodbye to beloved cats in the past, and it is so tough…
Oh man. I’m so sorry. I know you’re gonna miss her – she was such a character!
Oh dear. I’m so sorry.
I am so sorry….
Oh, I’m so sorry, Kris. It’s very sad, but I have to laugh at your description of adjusting where you slept based on where she wanted to be. I do the same thing for Lucy, and if I accidentally push her around and she jumps down in a huff, I apologize. They do train us well, don’t they?
Oh no. Kris, I am so sorry your loss. xo
She sounds like she was a wonderful cat.
it is so hard when they leave us, their lives are so short…
I’m so terribly sorry for your loss. It is never easy to say goodbye to them.
I’m so sorry to hear of your loss. The loss of a beloved furry friend hurts so much. (((hugs)))
aww… I’m so sorry and know you’ll miss her. What a wonderful tribute story too… sounds like she had a great personality and she was certainly a beauty.
Sounds like Chloe had a happy life, stealing balls of yarn and large swaths of bed. It’s so sad to say goodbye, but it’s nice to know that they lived well.
I am so very sorry!!! It is always so very sad to lose a beloved pet!!!
Oh, I just discovered your shop and blog and to read this. I am soo soo sorry.
she was beautiful and well, I share my sleeping quarters with 2 of my furry kids, the cat, well she just comes up and sleeps on the cedar chest at the bottom of the bed. But also steals a skein or 2 of my yarn, if I don’t get up in time.
Wonderful memories of her I am sure.
take care.
