Confession

As much as I like my classic rock and have a reputation for being anti-sappy, anti-syrupy, etc…. I have a confession.  I have an ABBA problem.

This problem caused a deep desire within me.  I have always wanted to see the Mamma Mia on Broadway but that just isn’t in the cards at this point in my life.  But then they made it into a movie.  I have not been to a movie theatre in three or more years and in that time, there has not been a movie released that I just had to see.  On July 18, all that changed.  Mamma Mia was released and I informed anyone and everyone that if a certain husband did not take me to see that movie life would be unpleasant.  Just sayin’.

This morning Dana’s parents came down and watched Anna Grace for a few hours.  Dana and I went out to breakfast….alone…woo hoo….and we went to see Mamma Mia.  I had a blast.

Was it silly?  You bet.

Was it sappy?  Absolutely.

Did it make any rational sense? Not a bit.

Did I like it?  Dang straight.

And as I write this I am listening to S.O.S. and Chiquitita and Does Your Mother Know and loving every minute of it.  :-)

  1. See, I swear you and I have common musical tastes. Cher AND ABBA? You go girl. I’m very jealous that you got to go. Theoretically, I could see if on Broadway since I’m only an hour or so away from the theatres (just jump on the train, and walk from Penn Station), but I’m in the same boat as far as the movie theater. Or, at least on the rare occasion that I have gone to the movies in the last few years, all the movies were G or PG. :-S But, I have my ABBA CDs and album (yes, I actually have an album), so I suppose that will have to keep me happy until Mamma Mia comes out of DVD or something like that. :-( You go girl!

  2. We saw Mamma Mia in an off-Broadway production in Seattle a few years ago, and I can’t wait to see the movie. It’s just corny enough to be cool. Now you made me go put ABBA on the current playlist. Diggin’ the dancing queen!

  3. I seem to never go to the movies, in part because I usually don’t think they were worth the admission cost. But I went to see Mamma Mia on Friday night with a few girlfriends and LOVED it! It was silly and fun and joyful and was a great entertainment as far as I was concerned.
