I like going to JoAnn’s to see what kind of knitting stuff they have. Often I find some new needles or tip protectors… just doo dads. Well today I went and I found a set of dpn’s with multiple sizes. There’s five needles for each of four different sizes (total of 20 needles). It’s a package put out by Susan Bates. I figured I’d give them a shot. I sure like the idea of getting so many sizes at once.
I also discovered that JoAnn’s has started carrying actual wool yarn (not lions brand wool ease 20% wool but real wool yarn). The brand is Sensations: Bellezza Collection and I bought a few balls to knit up and see how I like them.
Tesoro is 100% wool and very soft. I didn’t really like any of the colors that they had but I thought the beige was ok.
Stellina is mostly wool but also has some nylon in it. It’s very soft and has some texture to it. There were some better colors available in this yarn.
Dolcetto is a wool and cotton blend and is very bulky. The yarn isn’t as soft as I would like. I thought I’d knit up a swatch for a sweater pattern I have but I’m not sure I can tolerate that scratchiness of this fiber.
I’ve been thinking for a while that Michaels and JoAnn’s should get their act together and start offering higher quality yarn so I was just stunned to find 100% wool and mostly wool blends today. Hmmm…maybe they’re starting to realize that this knitting thing is getting popular?????? ‘Bout time!
